IT'S NOTHING PERSONAL | IT'S JUST THE APOCALYPSE

[That's a disappointing answer, but not unexpected.]

I see. Vatican City is very nice. The current pope is a decent fellow, or so I've heard.

[He's just going to go ahead and scratch 'Rome' off of the list of places for he and Crowley to vacation in the near future...]

Aside from being necessary for humans to procreate, it's another way for them to express their love. Although there are some humans who share your opinion. It's easy enough to avoid in literature, anyway. If you're interested in adventure, you can give Treasure Island by Robert Lewis Stevenson a try. It has pirates in it.

You're in luck, there are lots of books with dragons.

The Hobbit is about a fellow who joins a group of dwarves on a quest to slay an evil dragon. There's also the Epic of Gilgamesh or Sir Gawain and the Green Knight if you're looking for more classic literature. Not as many about befriending dragons, although I've been told that How to Train Your Dragon is a delightful series about Vikings and dragons.

Yes, I do. But the dragon is not a universal symbol for the Devil. Dragons are considered good luck in East Asian cultures, for example. Others simply view them as mythological creatures not tied to any sort of morality.

The dragon loses in all of them except the last one I listed.

[He's not going to bother addressing befriending dragons only to get something from them. In fact, he's barely tolerating answering this text at all. Why did he think that he and Gabriel could actually have a nice conversation over books? God, he really is soft...

Then he reads the rest of the texts. And smiles a little, despite himself.]

The movie is called Frozen. Or maybe it's the sequel, if it's in theaters currently.

[He knows all about Frozen. There was no avoiding it in 2013.]

Humans love fantasy stories. It's because they have such grand imaginations. Often times there is a moral or a more universal truth hidden within tales of monsters and magic. Hence all the stories about dragons.

[Aziraphale stares at the texts, wide-eyed, as if he was looking upon Agnes Nutter's prophecies all over again. A heartwarming scene in a children's film made Gabriel cry? Is he reading that correctly?

If they hadn't already averted the Apocalypse, he'd swear that the End Times were upon them.

But before he can get over his shock, Gabriel is trying to take it all back, and Aziraphale starts frantically typing out a reply, before he even knows what to write.]

No no no, there's nothing wrong with your corporation. It's just expressing the emotion you're feeling, it's supposed to do that. I won't tell anyone, I promise, but please don't try to fix this. There's nothing to fix! She gave us the ability to feel emotions, there is no shame in that.

[He doesn't appreciate having that ineffable argument turned around on him, but at least Gabriel is listening to him. And, oh, wow, is Gabriel actually listening to him???]

I am certain.

Humans understand that loving someone does not mean forcing them to behave a certain way or deny who they are. I believe the first movie made a similar point.

That's called a unicorn, the horse with a horn. You know, I haven't heard the soundtrack, but I'll give it a listen. And I don't see why you can't see it again, you are supposed to be doing research, correct? Aren't Michael and Sandalphon doing the same thing?
